From November through till mid January, you’d would have seen Kaarina planning and preparing for her Colour Technician of the Year shoot. With lots of details from the colour of the hair, the clothing, to lighting, to post production editing. The list just goes on and on and on…..

But on January 21st it all came together. 5 models (was supposed to be 6 but one dropped out at the last minute), 1 Make Up Artist, 1 Photographer, Kaarina and her assistant on the day Helen, and some amazing hair. I won’t mention the 2 days of colouring and cutting prior. That still brings back a few nightmares 🙂 So here are some behind the scenes images from all 3 days.

This was probably our best planned and organised shoot, to the point where even losing a model last minute didn’t affect the shoot at all, with plans in place for 2 of the other models to have a second look all ready in place prior. So the day was smooth, relaxed and some amazing work was produced. This is the point where everyone thinks we get to sit back and relax, we wish. From here two things start before we can submit our entry, the post production on the images, and the Submission.

What’s the Submission I hear you ask, well in one word “torture”. It’s a collection of all you have done for the industry for a 12 month period, from training, education, fashion shows, collection launches and new techniques, to how you inspire the younger generation, to the big question “Why do you deserve to win this title?”.

How do you ever answer that question without sounding like some over the top arrogant so and so, or to far the other way that you nearly talk them out of it. But probably the hardest thing is that since this is being judge by fellow hairdressers, you have to convey as much of this using images. So getting your message across is a balancing act. The fun…..

After another 4 weeks it was all done, complete and finished. So we dropped all the printed and mounted photo’s, the cd of the images and the printed and bound submission off a few days before closing date (no way were we going to risk posting this, could you imaging this getting lost in the post), our first entry in to Australia’s biggest hairdressing competition complete, and yes we can’t wait till next year to do it all again.

Hope you enjoy the finished images as much as we do ♥
